Why You Want a Health Insurance Advocate on Your Money Support Team

Dear Art of Money Adventurer,

One of my favorite things is finding and discovering advocates who work within the various specialities of the financial world. The layers of money work run deep, and I pride myself on finding folks who are not only experts in their field, but also really understand how truly emotional all things money are for most folks.

That means the advocates I find have to be super smart, incredibly kind, and have loads of understanding and experience working on the deeper psychological parts of their sphere of expertise.

Along with all the other Bookkeeper, Financial Coach, and Financial Planner experts I have interviewed as Guest Teachers inside the Art of Money program over the last 20 years, I’ve found great comfort in interviewing Michael Bovee, Debt Triage Advocate, Gerri Detweiler, Debt Advocate, Travis Hornsby, Student Loan Expert, and Susan Bradley, Sudden Money + Transitions Expert. These folks work within such niche subjects that profoundly impact our financial lives, and I’m honored to be able to share their voices and wisdom with you.

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Wendy Allegaert, a Health Insurance Advocate who specializes in Medicare. She loves to study all things insurance, so you can ask her about Obama Care, the positives changes the Biden administration has already put into place or meet with her to brainstorm health insurance strategies.

Wendy has also been an Art of Money student since 2015 and has done her own courageously beautiful money work over the years. Our interview will start with her sharing some of her experiences with the Art of Money program and community — she is currently in two accountability groups — and what has positively changed in her own money journey over the years.

Then we dive into health insurance, ranging from health and money issues, to how to think about the future, and who qualifies for Medicare. Plus, some very practical, manageable steps you can personally take right now to empower your own health and money journey.
