The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness

The first time I heard The Question was many years ago, after my very first money talk (to ten wide-eyed women, circled together atop overstuffed cushions in my mentor’s living room). A woman raised her hand at the end and asked in all enthusiastic seriousness:
“When’s the book coming out?”
Since that day, I have gotten that question over and over and over, Red Rover:
… after every public talk (from people who wanted MORE)
… smack-dab in the middle of private financial therapy sessions (from folks who knew their sweetie was ready for this work, too)
… and throughout my year-long money school, from lit-up students who wanted to share this work, this message, with their best friends, mothers, neighbors, cousins — all those people who are so ready to heal the stress, shame, and confusion they feel about money and make this relationship a unique expression of their noble hearts: clear, grounded, aligned, and empowered.
For years, each time I got The Question, I answered, “Not yet … but soon.” I knew as well as they did that there was already an Art of Money book, living inside me. But the book, these teachings, and I, needed time to grow and mature. That time is over. And I’m thrilled to say:
The book is here!
This book encapsulates my entire methodology: Money Healing, Money Practices, and Money Maps. It weaves together stories from my global community, intimate reflections, and actionable teachings. It is for women and men, couples and creative entrepreneurs — anyone who is finally ready to look money in the eye and make their relationship with it an expression of their hearts: clear, grounded, aligned, empowered.
From our publisher, Parallax Press:
“So many of us lack a truly integrative understanding and approach to money. Bari Tessler’s gentle techniques weave together emotional depth, big-picture visioning, and refreshingly accessible, nitty-gritty money practices. She offers readers a new approach to their relationship with money—as a path of mindfulness, a doorway into self-awareness, a training ground for self-worth, a key to unlock intimacy, and a potent opportunity for radical un-shaming, self-care, and compassion. Both she and her book are warm, fun, reassuring, and full of surprises!”
I am honored to be published by Parallax Press — Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh’s publishing house! They could see my vision: turning our relationship with money into a doorway which opens us to greater mindfulness, wisdom, and love. I’m also grateful for Parallax’s distributor, Penguin Random House! It’s an incredible combination.
