Money Memoir: Tender story: the financial triumph
of a once single mother of three.

The financial triumph of a once single mother of three.

What if you could talk to real people about money? We ALL have money stories to share. Tough times and how we overcame them. Hard-won wisdom. Inspiration and soulful insights. In this intimate conversation series, I talk to real people about real money stuff. Curl up with a cuppa as we pull back the curtain. Because when we dare to speak the truth about money … amazing healing begins.

Dear Community,

Are you able to ask for what you want?

Oh my, what a question that is — for each of us. It hits so many levels.

Are you able and willing to dig deep, feel the value of who you are, and ask for what you need to thrive?

And then: are you able to RECEIVE that support? Without shaming yourself, but holding your head high and dignified?

So many of us find it challenging to ask for what we really want (or need). This wreaks havoc on our money world, leading to under-earning, over-giving, over-yes-ing, under-NO-ing.

But this unhelpful pattern also bleeds into other areas of our lives. In our careers, in our relationships, in our health, and on and on. After all: no single area of life is actually separate from the others.

That’s why today’s Money Memoir is so poignant and powerful.

In this very special interview, Danielle Cohen — my sweet friend and personal photographer — shares the true story of a massive money initiation she just went through.

This is the first time Danielle has publicly shared this story, and I’m so honored she entrusted me (and you, my dear community!) with it.

Hear how Danielle slayed a “money dragon” and learned to receive.

You’ll just have to listen to this Money Memoir to fully grok its power, but here’s some of what Danielle shares:

  • How fear keeps us from asking for what we need (and deserve)
  • The “magical money thinking” she grew up with and how she’s facing it anew now
  • How complex PTSD and anxiety impact her money world
  • How she “did” money as a single Mom of 3 boys
  • The HUGE money “dragon” she just slayed — and the lessons she learned from it. (So powerful.)

I’m so grateful to Danielle for sharing the wisdom she’s gathered from this experience.

This is the beauty of facing our “money stuff.” Head-on, heart-open.
We transform. And we share that gift with others.

Thank you, Danielle. And thank YOU, my dear community, for witnessing … and transforming, yourselves.

You don’t have to face a money rite of passage alone. As Danielle’s story teaches us, sometimes the bravest, smartest thing is learning to seek out and receive good support.

Especially when it comes to money.

If you feel like you just don’t know how to “do” money — the nitty-gritty nuts ’n bolts, let alone how to navigate your complex emotions around it — it’s OK. That’s normal. You’re not alone.

Most of us were never given a real money education. Now, as adults of all ages, it’s up to us to empower ourselves with the information, resources, and emotional support we need (and deserve!) to create a thriving, peaceful, confident relationship with money.

That’s why I do what I do. And that’s why I created The Art of Money — now open for a short time.
