Dear Money Adventurer,
Over the last 23 years of teaching my financial therapy work, I’ve had hundreds of calls with folks, and have received hundreds of emails with details about their relationship with money.
When you’re a part of that many conversations, you hear a lot about the real changes happening in people’s lives as they do their money work.
From one perspective, when you step back and take a look at all the comments, it’s fun to think of these conversations happening in some kind of “mindful money cafe.”
So, I thought you might find it interesting to hear some of the types of things heard over the years in this little cafe.
These snippets of conversations will give you a good sense of what kinds of real life things change for folks when they do the Art of Money financial therapy work.
Overheard In The Art of Money Cafe

“I love Bari and the Art of Money program! Working with her in the program was some of the best couple’s therapy we’ve ever experienced, and it allowed us to move into actually looking at our numbers and budgeting money we actually have, instead of money we believe we should have.
Yay for money dates! In our house we call them “family meetings” because we do other things during them as well, but we have them regularly and I, the most scaredy cat ever, now look at our money every day. It’s shocking how much of a difference her work has made in my family’s life. Truly shocking.”
– Catherine Buck Clarenbach

“I am looking back to three years ago when I had so much anxiety surrounding money that it kept me up at night. This is how I stumbled upon Bari’s work: a google search for money/financial counseling. I read all the articles I came across one dark evening until I read Bari’s. Her words spoke deeply to me. Then I read everything I could google about her work. I knew I found my solution, a way to not “save” me but to “teach” me HOW to do money. Her words never made me feel stupid or incapable. They were supportive and encouraging. I knew I could learn in an environment like the Art of Money program. I was in!
I have a list of positive financial accomplishments which I am proud of but I am even more amazed in the changes in me. I am stronger, more resilient, financially savvy, calm and hopeful. I am becoming my whole self.”
– Julie Glaze Gorman

“The Art of Money program has taught me so much: how to have money dates, how to be gentle with myself around money issues, becoming more conscious, and looking at my history. I am now debt free, my husband and I have paid off our house, I am now happily retired and I simply adore this program and Bari.”
– Tandy David
“For me, what I’m seeing is a huge shift in how my husband and I are relating with each other about the topic of money in our lives.
Before now, there used to be a ton of conflict between us in conversations about our financial situation. We just never were able to see eye to eye on anything.
In fact, we never even used to be able to talk about money at all with each other. But now? We’re actually having regular money dates together.
There’s no fighting. No arguing. No battles. It’s a miracle, actually. We’re talking openly about each of our financial goals, where we each want to spend money, how we can support each other, and how we can work together to make everything happen for each other and for our family.”
