Books and Dark chocolate, two of my favorite thing Books and Dark chocolate, two of my favorite things!

What I'm Reading + Watching + Baking this Summer 🧡

I wanted to share some of my favorites off my summer reading list with you on my blog.

In previous years, I’ve shared that I tend to read fiction and memoirs–I rarely read non-fiction. Sometimes I listen to non-fiction, but I’ve always learned best through storytelling.

So, without further ado…

To view my summer reading list, head to my profile link and click on blog.

I also had to throw in what I’m watching and baking, plus some other summer favorites, including hikes and travel adventures–because why not?! The world is heavy right now, so here are some extra moments of joy!

With my dearest wishes,

Bari Tessler Linden

What happens when two Jewish women get their Maste What happens when two Jewish women get their Masters Degrees in Somatic Psychology from the same university?

(HELLO @naropau )

You get the creation of two workbooks that pair so well together.

The Somatic Therapy Workbook and The Art of Money Workbook

If you love workbooks and love to journal, they work well together.

I’ve been incorporating somatic tools in my financial therapy work since day one (over 21 years ago) because they are simply essential and supportive when we are exploring our relationship to money.

The Art of Money Workbook is your personal roadmap, created to help you dive deeper into your money emotions and bring more compassion to your money stories. If you want to learn tools and practices like the somatic body check-in, money dates, and how to make good money decisions, order my workbook and let the teachings and journaling questions I have put together for you guide the way.

The Somatic Therapy Workbook by @liviashapiro is a wonderful way to begin to explore somatic tools and practices for yourself and your clients. I have a list of favorite somatic books that I share in my programs and this workbook is at the top.

Both of these workbooks can be really supportive to each other.

Please enjoy and let us know if you are using them together!

With dear wishes,

Bari Tessler Linden

p.s. you can find both our workbooks everywhere online and many local bookstores.

I woke with wild hair today and I knew it was the I woke with wild hair today and I knew it was the day to finally try pastry dough for the first time.

Maybe I was channeling @pastryschiff but I went to sleep with a little bun and woke up with this fabulous hair.

So here's my Sunday baking adventure.

I've been obsessing over fruit galettes. I love how rustic they are and how you can make it with all different fruits each time.

So far, I've made a blueberry/lavender galette and a strawberry/blueberry galette.

Today I wanted to make a cherry one and attempt the pastry dough instead of store bought.

I used the @smittenkitchen pastry dough recipe. Filled the inside with cherries and a few plumes.

You can see more of the steps in my stories.

Voila, my first galette officially from scratch.

If you don't know this about me, I didn't start cooking or baking until 2020. It became my big exploration during the big pandemic year.

I also was 51 in 2020 and my son was 11 which means we can learn new things as we mature.

Also my son will always remember I went from being an ok assembler in the kitchen to cooking meals and baking for my family.

My husband loves everything i make and my teenager is harder to please and can be quite a food critique.

After years of not wanting to have anything to do with the kitchen but loved to dine and have others cook for me, I have picked up a few skills over the years and feel way more comfortable in the kitchen. It's also become a huge form of creativity for me too.

So now, I somatic-financial therapist during the week and kitchen witch on the weekends 🧡

Last night at the @boulderbookstore before my book Last night at the @boulderbookstore before my book reading.

I was up here on top level of the bookstore signing books before the event.

So if you couldn't make my event there are signed copies of both my books available.

I now wish I had said yes when my husband asked me if I wanted him to come. He would have taken photos and I don't have any.

But he was on soccer duty and the teenager was not too keen to come to my event this time.

Whereas six years ago at the age of 7, he introduced me before my book reading in front of a large crowd and even signed books after!

And, It was a lovely evening with a lovely group of humans!

I talked about all things Financial Therapy and loved the Q&A.

I got to meet a couple of folks in my current year-long program. I met folks who I know from social media. I met folks who were at my first book reading 6 years ago. + new folks!

Also my mom was there in the front row!

I've been visiting the Boulder Bookstore for almost 30 years.

I just love being in there, in all the different levels of the store. and they have an excellent dark chocolate selection.

So I left with a stash of fiction and chocolate which always makes me happy.

Thank you to everyone who came out (masked and unmasked)!

Now -- Go get my Art of Money Workbook if you haven't already! It also makes a great gift. (it's available everywhere online and in many local bookshops too)

P.S. I was going for the librarian look 😛

I thought I would introduce myself with a selfie f I thought I would introduce myself with a selfie from the other day.

I'm a Somatic Therapist and Financial Therapist.

I've been calling myself a Financial Therapist since 2001.

I was living in a tiny cabin with my husband at the time and I put up big white paper on the walls to clarify my work.

I spent my 20's in graduate school getting a Masters in Somatic Psychology from Naropa University.

Then I took "a detour" and learned bookkeeping and ran a bookkeeping biz for therapists & artists.

So when my husband saw me attempting to name and integrate my somatic therapy training with my new found love for bookkeeping and money practices, he looked at the big white paper and said, "You're doing Financial Therapy!

I looked at him like the brilliant namer he was and said, YES, thats exactly what I'm doing, Financial Therapy.

I've been running my business for 21 years and have had 5 different biz models along the way.

I'm always adjusting my model based on this equation: time, energy, money, family and health.

Currently, I offer two group programs.

1: My year-long program, The Art of Money for lay folks. This is a large group (250-500). There are always therapists, coaches and financial folks in there doing their own money work and learning my method. --This will open for registration in mid-September so coming soon!

2: My Mentor Program for therapists, coaches and financial professionals. This is a small cohort (40). We are currently mid way through the founding member group and I'm loving it. --I'll run this program again in the new year.

I occasionally open my private Financial Therapy sessions as well.

I'm also the author of 2 published books, The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness and The Art of Money Workbook.

I share a lot of free content on my weekly newsletter and there's a podcast too.

I'm 53 with a 13 year old son so I'm in the older mama club + I've been with my husband for 21 years.

We currently have 3 cats and 1 huge puppy.

I've been exploring gyrotonics lately, planks and teaching my puppy to jog a little.

Lastly, for now, I've been obsessing over fruit galettes.

Tell me one thing about you 🧡
