The Art of Money is the book your money-savvy best friend, therapist, and accountant would write if they could. Bari Tessler’s integrative approach creates the real possibility of “money healing,” using our relationship with money as a gateway to self-awareness and a training ground for compassion, confidence, and self-worth. Tessler’s gentle techniques weave together emotional depth, big-picture visioning, and refreshingly accessible, nitty-gritty money practices. Guiding readers through a step-by-step journey, The Art of Money will help anyone transform their relationship with money and, in so doing, transform their life. As the author writes, “When we dare to speak the truth about money, amazing healing begins.”

The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness is the emotional and practical financial education you deserve … but probably never got.

It gently guides you through an elegant, integrative 3-phase methodology: Money Healing, Money Practices, and Money Maps. This holistic approach welcomes your whole self into your money relationship, so you can:

  • Let go of your “money shame” with a simple (yet profound) mindfulness practice
  • Take small-yet-mighty steps forward, in your emotional healing and To Do list
  • Use ritual, forgiveness, and contemplation to cultivate a sense of wholeness and peace
  • Personalize your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly money tasks so they feel like rich, creative self-care practices
  • Learn how “money dates” with your honey (or family or biz partner) can actually bring you closer together (oh, yes!)
Put money in its rightful place: supporting your cherished values and Big Life Dreams.

So many of us lack a truly integrative understanding and approach to money. Bari Tessler’s gentle techniques weave together emotional depth, big-picture visioning, and refreshingly accessible, nitty-gritty money practices. She offers readers a new approach to their relationship with money—as a path of mindfulness, a doorway into self-awareness, a training ground for self-worth, a key to unlock intimacy, and a potent opportunity for radical un-shaming, self-care, and compassion. Both she and her book are warm, fun, reassuring, and full of surprises!”

Hi, I’m Bari Tessler,

I’m a Financial Therapist and have a Masters degree in Somatic Psychology. I am also the founder of The Art of Money, a year-long money school.

I earned my Masters degree from Naropa University, working in the mental health field and the bereavement side of Hospice for over a decade. Then, I ran a bookkeeping business for therapists, coaches and artists and realized my mission was to merge emotional literacy with financial literacy.

In 2001, I created my first Financial Therapy methodology and have been teaching it in small to large groups for 21 years. I am also the author of The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness and The Art of Money Workbook (published in 2022).

I’m so thrilled to share this book with you. It includes my entire, 3-phase financial therapy methodology along with teaching stories from my dear community and insights from my personal money journey.

The Art of Money is …

  • Published by Parallax Press: beloved Buddhist Teacher Thich Nhat Hanh’s publishing house.
  • Lovingly printed on recycled paper.

Sit back … and let me read the first few pages to you.

You really can bring all of your heart, wisdom, and creativity into your money practices. In fact? It’s essential.

This book is for women and men of all ages and economic backgrounds. For couples, individuals, and creative entrepreneurs.
