Questions? Get some answers here.
Q: When does the program officially start?
A: Our grand journey officially begins on February 1st, 2018. Mark your calendar, because this is a big, beautiful, celebratory day! That’s when you’ll receive your first Monthly Mission … plus, that’s the day our private Facebook group opens, so you can connect with Bari, our team of TA’s, and a loving global community of kindred Money Explorers.
When you join in January (before we officially begin), you’ll instantly get full access to our beautiful private member area, where the treasure trove our course materials live: step-by-step coursework, teachings, worksheets, audio messages, interviews, and so much more. We’ll roll out this content in an easy-to-follow way throughout the year, so you don’t get overwhelmed. But if you’re raring to get started in January, you’ll have plenty of wonderful, introductory content available in January.
Q: My partner/honey/spouse and I want to participate in the program together. Do we need to pay twice?
A: No. Take advantage of our special pricing for couples: $108/month OR a 1-time payment of $988.
This couples pricing is just slightly more than the price for an individual. We want to make it as easy as possible for couples to share this journey, because we know just how powerful it can be when you do deep money work together.
We’re not allowing couples to join for the price of one for two reasons. First, we’ve noticed that sharing access with others doesn’t actually do them a huge favor: when people make a financial investment, they’re far more likely to follow through and take full advantage of the program. And second, we’ve realized that we do need to charge a little more for couples, so we can cover the expenses and the oodles of time and support you’ll receive from our team.
Q: I’m in a relationship and my partner isn’t willing to share in this work with me. Will I still benefit from this program?
A: Yes, goodness, absolutely, yes! Even if you’re journeying solo — join. Your clarity and empowerment are yours to claim.
And you never know — your honey may well catch a glimpse of your transformation and decide to join you down the road. We’ve been amazed by the what happens when just one partner shows up for this work. First, little shifts happen. You claim more empowerment. You become more clear, honest, and loving — with yourself and with your partner. And then, over time, bigger shifts happen.
We’ve seen mountains moved in this gentle, loving way. And many times, the willing partner is pleasantly surprised to find their spouse/partner/honey getting curious about this work down the road. We’re not advocating being pushy here! But we are advocating doing the work you are inspired to do — because when you commit to your own healing, it ripples out through the rest of your life in wonderful, irresistible ways.
If you’re still feeling concerned about doing this work when your partner isn’t on the same page with you, we think you’ll love this article. It includes a clip from behind-the-scenes of the Art of Money, from one of our monthly Q&A calls, and Bari addresses this very issue with one of the community members.
Q: What if I want to share this program with my roommate/business partner/daughter/best friend? Can we use the couples pricing?
A: With love: no.
The couples pricing is only for people in an intimate love relationship. It does not extend to other relationships. No matter how close you may be. No matter how much overlap there is with your “money stuff.” No matter how much you talk about money (or don’t talk about it, and need to!).
We’ve learned that when people don’t pay for this work, they’re actually far less likely to get a lot out of it. And we want everyone in our community to benefit as much as possible from the Art of Money experience! So our firm boundary around sharing this material isn’t about stinginess — it’s actually about love.
We’re so happy that you’re excited to share this with others in your life! We hope you’ll send the program page their way … and we trust that anyone who’s ready for this work will sign up.
Q: I’m an introvert. Will I be forced to participate/share/show up more than I’m comfortable?
A: You are most welcome to this community — and we’ll make every effort to make you feel as comfortable as possible, and help you know that this is a safe place. It’s a big community space, and you can engage as much — or as little — as you like. Sit back and watch. Listen. Witness. Be as loud or quiet as you need. Share your stories or keep them to yourself. We trust you know what’s best for you. And we’re here if you need help along the way.
Q: I’m an extrovert, a talker, an open book. Will there be enough space for me to get support?
A: Yep. We need your kind too. Remember: you get 24/7 access on Facebook, plus open calls every month to get your questions answered, your process witnessed, and your journey supported.
Q: I bet I’m in a time zone (or have a work schedule) that will make it difficult to attend the calls. When will they be?
A: We’re welcoming people from all over the world, with diverse schedules, lifestyles, and working hours for this program — and we’re doing everything we can to make it easy and convenient for everyone to participate.
So: we’re alternating the days and times for our calls: some will be during the day, others will be in the evenings. We’d love for you to make every single call, but you truly don’t need to be there live to enjoy amazing transformative work.
If you can’t make the calls, don’t fret! We’ll be recording every single call so you can listen to it at the perfect time for you. And if you have questions you’d like us to answer during calls, but know you won’t be able to make it live, just email us ahead of time and we’ll do our very best to answer them.
We’re here for you — no matter where (or when!) in the world you are.
Q: What if I can’t make it to one/some/all of the calls?
A: Don’t fret. We’re recording every call for you; they are yours to keep forever. And you’ll always have the opportunity to email questions for Bari and the guest teachers if you won’t be there live. Even if you’re not on the call, you won’t miss a beat.
And, please note ALL of the recordings are downloadable so you can enjoy them while you are exercising, driving in the car, while nursing your child, etc.
Q: How much time and energy should I expect to be investing in this program? Can I go at my own pace?
A: There will be one, two-hour, live group coaching call with Bari every month — as well recorded (and some live) calls with guest teachers. You will also receive your “Monthly Missions” with recommended exercises and explorations, plus weekly email Love Notes. Beyond that, it will be up to you to create the time and space to sit with, practice, and implement everything you are learning. It’s also up to you to connect with The Art of Money private Facebook group — and to pipe up with questions as feels good to you.
You can truly spend as little or as much time as works for you.
Like most things, what you put in will be what you get out — but there is no right, or required, way to do this. Everyone will have their rhythm, and everyone will be supported to find, nurture, and accept that rhythm. I will support you in crafting your own journey here!
There is an incredible framework as you are ready, and you have lifetime access to all of the materials, to return to again and again. Everything is recorded, which frees you up even more to go at your own pace. Also since it’s a year long program, your energy input will of course fluctuate with your life — and we welcome that.
And, please note: some folks will do every piece and part of the program and engage with it in the exact order that I am presenting it. Some will pick and choose which exercises, which Guest Teachers are most needed and interesting. Some will jump around in the different phases and themes. This is one of the biggest side teachings of my work…YOU will get to listen to what’s best for you and craft your journey in the best way for you. There is no “right way” to approach this. It’s about finding your right way and showing up fully for that.
Q: Holy cow, there’s so much content!! What if I don’t go through all of it by the end of the year?
A: Yes, there truly is an embarrassment of riches! But it’s given to you in the spirit of generosity and support — NOT obligation. You will be reminded again and again to honor YOUR pacing and self-care — and that you are never “behind.”
Our Facebook community will close down on December 31, 2018. But you will still have access to your 2018 member’s area for the lifetime of the program (years to come!). That means: all the teaching materials, the resource library, guest teacher interviews, recorded group coaching calls, and even program emails will still be there for you, whenever you need them. (Whew!)
Many people choose to continue the Art of Money journey with us for a second or third year — because they love the ongoing support and community AND this money work is truly the work of a lifetime, growing and evolving and deepening, right along with us. If you choose to continue, you’ll receive a generous, 50% alumni discount. (Sweet, right?)
Q: How many people will be in the Art of Money?
A: The truth is, we’re not sure yet! We won’t know until we close our registration period on February 1. Here’s what we do know: in our inaugural year, we welcomed 320 people from around the world, and we’ve only gotten bigger each year. 2018 will be the fifth year of The Art of Money, and we’re expecting our biggest, most diverse group, yet. But don’t fret: we’ve beefed up our support team to make sure you get the cheerleading and guidance and handholding you deserve!
Our mission is to create a global conscious money movement. So our community will be rich, diverse, and wide — and I’ve made sure there will be enough love & support to go around.
In addition to guidance from Bari (that’s me!), we have a wonderful team of TA’s (Transformation Assistants!). I’ve hand-picked these wise ones to help me hold and guide this journey, and offer this community their invaluable support, guidance, and help.
We trust 100% that the constellation of this group will be perfect, and have lovingly designed and refined and re-refined this program to welcome and support a large number.
This is not a small, intimate mastermind group (and we’ve priced it to reflect that). I taught very small group formats for years, and I love the deep work that can happen there! But when we opened the Art of Money program (a new teaching format, a new price point, a new experience), we intentionally grew our community. We want this work to be more affordable and accessible, for a much more diverse group of people.
I still love creating an intimate, nurturing loving environment — and we think we’ve found an elegant way to offer that experience within a large community through this program. We’re committed to every member of this community – if you show up, your questions will be answered and your process will be witnessed.
One amazing way to get heard and held throughout this year is in our private Facebook group. I have been utterly blown away by the community conversations in the Facebook in 2016. Utterly. Blown. Away. Seriously: it’s hard to put into words how aflame this group has been: supporting each other in the triumphs and the challenges, crowdsourcing insights, delving deep, and having a grand ole time together. Plus, our TA’s (remember: there are FIVE incredible Transformation Assistants) will keep close tabs on the Facebook community, chiming in with resources and guidance for you. Most of all: I’m incredibly active in the Facebook group. Yes: you’ll see my smiling face in there all the time, cheering you on!
Remember: you can email your questions prior to group coaching calls, you can speak during calls, and you can post in the private Facebook group any time. I’m excited to be your guide, and I also know that so much of your learning will happen through each other.
That said, if you want to dig into your process with uninterrupted, spacious time where you get my undivided attention, you may consider private Financial Therapy with me. It’s a pricier option, but it’s the only other way to work with me than The Art of Money. I plan on opening a few spots for private Financial Therapy in February, 2018 — and the first availability will go to my Art of Money students.
Q: I have followed your work for years (the articles, old iterations of Conscious Bookkeeping, and possibly even the HomeStudy program or group coaching programs). I’m already familiar with your work, so … will The Art of Money have enough new material to make it worth it?
A: This work is a lifelong journey. The material you have already encountered will reappear as the foundation of this experience. However, everything is updated: this is the fullest, most current culmination and evolution of my work. Plus, I’ll be teaching live in our monthly group coaching calls and weekly email love. There are so many new teachings from me, and brand new teachings from the guest teachers. Not to mention, you’ll be in the company of a brand new, and no doubt, stunning community of Money Adventurers.
In short: yes, it’s so worth it. We welcome you, veteran students.
Q: Why do you use Facebook instead of another online community?
A: Frankly? Because it works way better. We’ve tried other private member forums — and noticed that people didn’t continue engaging with them. We’ve shared notes with other online community leaders and heard the same thing: Facebook simply works better for keeping people engaged. Many of you are already on Facebook, so it’s incredibly easy for you to interact with your new community. And in our first two years, we had some people join Facebook just for the Art of Money — and use it easily and successfully.
Our Facebook group is not just private, it’s secret. That means: nobody can see that you’re in this group unless they’re in it, too. (We do keep the group to private, instead of secret, for the first two weeks of the program, so we can add you to the group. Once everybody is in, we change it to secret.) Nobody can see what you post or what other people post here — unless they’re also in the group. And, of course, it’s 100% up to you what you share here and what you choose to keep private. We have found that people get amazing support through the Facebook group, and we do encourage that you show up here with questions, quandaries, and insights — just because we want you to get the very most out of your Art of Money experience.
Q: I hate Facebook. Not gonna do it. Does this mean The Art of Money isn’t for me?
A: Absolutely not! While we make every effort to keep our Facebook community private and secure, we understand that some people will choose not to participate there. It’s OK! You can still receive and achieve a tremendous amount from the program, even without the part of community feature.
- You’ll still get all of the teachings, content, emails, recordings, and more (an exceptional amount of material!!), held in a private member area that you can access on your own schedule (no Facebook required).
- You’ll still get our Weekly Love notes delivered to your inbox, which inspire a supportive and community feel.
- You’ll still be able to engage with the community in our monthly Q&A calls (with Bari).
- You’ll still be able to email me (and my team) any questions you have.
The community participation in the Facebook group feels essential for some people — but it’s not for everyone. Some of you crave community; others want to do this work more on their own. If engaging in the Facebook community doesn’t feel important to you, you’ll still receive a tremendous amount of value from the program — if you show up for yourself.
Some folks like to join the Facebook group, but simply sit back and watch what others have to share. Some like to keep to themselves for a bit, at first — watch, listen, and learn from the community — and then decide to chime in more and more. Some people say “heck, no” to the Facebook group at first, but end up choosing to join down the road. Others create a Facebook account just for the Art of Money program. You’re welcome to join the Facebook group or not, participate or not — it’s truly up to you!
It comes down to this: you need to show up in the best way for you. And nobody can know what that is better than you. We completely understand that. And we welcome a wide range of participation styles. As long as you know you’re showing up fully — in the way that works best for you — you’ll progress beautifully.
Q: Bari, I love you. How much Bari time will I get?
A: I love you, too! I want you to know: The Art of Money gets oodles of my love and attention. Monthly, 2-hour live group coaching calls. Tons of interaction in our private Facebook group. Audio recordings, my whole library, and tons of content. Weekly email love. You get the very best of me, for a whole year.
If you need me, I’m here — within reason and time limitations. If you have a question and are too shy to ask live on the group coaching call, email me beforehand and I’ll do my best to answer it. If you need some quick tips or support — or just want to share your latest triumph! — post on the private Facebook group and I’ll chime in (along with the rest of the community!). I’m very active in responding to Art of Money students, so if you show up and ask for help, you’ll get it, in droves.
And, while I’m the main guide, you also have access to my hand-picked team of phenomenal Transformation Assistants. I trust and love them — and have trained them on supporting you. They’re very active behind-the-scenes, via email, and in our Facebook group, and will offer you their own insightful, loving guidance.
Q: What if I want some extra, personalized support from Bari along the way?
A: I’m all yours. You are so courageous to show up for this work, and I care so deeply about getting you the support you need! I’m always here for you — in the Facebook group, via email, and in our group coaching calls.
And, I’ve already heard from some of you that you’d love some additional, quality time, one-on-one with me.
Rest assured: I plan on opening some slots for private Financial Therapy with me for this 2018 AOM community. This is my private financial therapy, in a single-serving, 60-minute format. These aren’t included in the price of the Art of Money: they’re add-on private sessions with me. But if you hit a rough patch or just know you could really use some personalized support — at any point in this journey — these are available to you! Learn more about private Financial Therapy with me right here.
You’ll also have access to our amazing team of Transformation Assistants, each of whom has her own specialty for private coaching and support. I know you will fall in love with these women, as I have!
Some TA support will be available to you under the Art of Money 2018 Program umbrella (in the private Facebook group). And, if you’d like private support from any of these wonderful ladies, you’re oh-so-welcome to additionally sign up for it throughout the year!
Finally: if you need support from any other kind of financial pro, we make every effort to connect you with the best. In my decades of money work, I’ve created a lengthy list of top, trustworthy financial experts, and you’re welcome to the full Rolodex: bookkeepers, accountants, trainers, coaches, planners, and on and on.
Q: I don’t live in the US. Will this program support me as an international member of the community?
A: We welcome international students! This community will have students from all over the world –in 2014, we had students in 17 countries, and in 2015 we had 370 students from 24 countries!— and we love the diversity and fresh perspectives this brings to us all! 95% of the material is “international-friendly,” if you will. The only pieces that might be irrelevant, or need tweaking for you are as follows: We will be covering some bookkeeeping/tracking systems that are only offered in the US, and we’ll also be covering some tax subjects that will not be relevant. That’s it! Know that we will also provide resources for tracking systems you can use in your country — and will make every effort to support you in this way. We’ll do some research for you, and make sure you have what you need.
Q: What if I don’t finish all of the material by the end of the year?
A: Ah, we have you covered on this one. You will have access to the private member area that houses all of the content from Art of Money 2018 for years and years to come (for as long as I am running the Art of Money business, which I foresee will be many years). So you are welcome to keep coming back to the material over and over at your own pace. Please note our Facebook group will complete on December 31st, 2018.
Q: Is there a money-back guarantee or refund policy?
A: The Art of Money is a non-refundable investment in your relationship to money. We gave a lot of thought as to whether or not we’d offer a refund policy — and we’ve decided not to offer one. This is not a product you can try out and return: it’s a year-long, participatory experience that you must commit to. This is not a monthly membership that you can “pause” or opt-out of if life gets in the way: it’s an unfolding process that empowers you to dance with your money relationship, even (especially!) when life gets sticky. Scroll down to learn why we’re not offering a refund or an option to opt-out of this program — and why that’s actually in your best interest.
Q: Do I have to use a particular bookkeeping system/tracking tool in this program?
A: No. Instead, we’ll support you in choosing the best one for you. You’ll be guided to make a great decision for you and your needs, for personal and/or business finance. (Choices include Mint, Quicken, Quickbooks, iBank, YNAB, Xero and several more we’ll discuss.) And, we will be recommending bookkeeping programs for folks in the US, Canada, Europe and other international folks.
Q: As soon as I saw this program, I thought “YES! This is what I want and need.” And then I got paralyzed. I’m not sure I can do this and give myself this.
A: All of the paralysis, resistance, and more will be deeply supported and held in this experience. We welcome it, and I can walk you through this tricky terrain. Thanks for being so aware – this will serve you so well in this program!
Q: Do you offer scholarships for the program?
A: We’ve thought long and hard about this and we don’t offer scholarships at this time. We’ve learned that when people don’t pay for this work, they’re actually far less likely to get a lot out of it. People tend to get the most out of the program when they invest in it, emotionally and financially. And we want everyone in our community to benefit as much as possible from the Art of Money experience!
Also, we’ve found that it is truly challenging to assess the real need behind a scholarship because being able to “afford” something can be very relative based on what we value or how we feel.
Offering scholarships is something we have really thought long and hard about behind the scenes.
It’s also important to clarify that we have kept the price point of the year-long Art of Money course the same for 5 years and have not increased it. We feel we are doing our best to keep the program as reasonably priced and accessible for the most amount of people in our community. And, we get this is truly all relative.
If you feel that $88.00 per month is not possible for you, we now have our beautiful book available by a similar name, The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness and loads of free content on our site via our blog articles and our 7 day free mini Art of Money course.
Q: Boy, I’m still on the fence! Help?
A: We’ve got you covered on this one too. Remember: we’re all about conscious money decisions, so we want you to feel 100% clear and empowered as you decide whether The Art of Money is right for you. So here are two amazing resources to help you get even more clarity:
Get a free Taste of The Art of Money. It’s a great way to get a sneak peek at the kind of content we include and how it’s presented. It includes an audio teaching introducing a Monthly Mission, a Weekly Love Note, a slice of a Monthly Mission (in PDF format), and a Guest Teacher video interview. Get it all right here, for free — enjoy!
Check out our 2016 Money Mochas Series. We’ve hand-picked (and heart-plucked) some of our favorite, nibble-sized content from behind-the-scenes of the Art of Money (and other wonderful places). This is a great way to get a taste of the Art of Money experience. If you’ve got a few 5 minutes, take a sip of a Money Mocha! Find ’em all right here.

Q: It seems odd to me to spend money on my relationship to money. Any suggestions for how to make this decision?
A: How astute and thoughtful of you. When facing any money decision, I recommend considering five main factors:
The Numbers: Do you know if you have enough money right now to make this purchase (this program will help you if you’re afraid to look at your numbers)? Also, brainstorm ways to create $88/month in your life (a few lattes here, scaling back there – it could be more possible than you think).
The Timing: Do you need this right now? Is your relationship to money calling (or screaming) to you? Have you been asking for this kind of support?
The Value: Is this valuable to you? If so, how valuable? Are you willing to spend your money to reflect this value?
The Cost: How much is it costing you to not give yourself this work? Really, how is not doing this work hurting you or your relationships?
The Intention: Is this a self-loving decision? Are you ready to receive the value of this investment?
If you’re prepared to gently, lovingly hold yourself accountable for receiving the value of this investment …
If you feel empowered, trusting, and loving towards yourself in making this investment …
If you’re prepared to invest not only your money, but your mind, your heart, your time, and your consciousness, as well …
Then everything is aligned for you to receive a powerful return on your investment.
So: Take a deep breath. Check in with yourself. Look at your numbers. Consider the timing. Weigh the value. Reflect on your intentions. Is this your time? Only you can know!
The “Why” behind our No-Refund, No Opt-out Policy
The Art of Money is a non-refundable investment in your relationship with money. It’s an invitation to listen, learn, connect, explore, and transform. It’s a year-long experience that can be paid monthly or in full — but it is not a monthly membership program that you can cancel and opt-out of at any time.
My team and I thought long and hard about whether or not to offer a “30-day money-back guarantee” or some other sort of refund/opt-out policy. Ultimately, we decided it didn’t feel right to us to offer one. We asked ourselves a lot of questions about this and finally recognized it as an opportunity to provide a conscious money teaching — right here in your decision-making process, before even clicking “buy.”
Here are our reasons for not offering refunds or an option to opt-out of The Art of Money once you’ve joined:
Reason #1: Signing up for AOM was your chance to make a clear, confident money decision.
A big part of conscious money work is empowering you to engage every money decision mindfully, lovingly, truthfully, and directly. By not offering refunds or allowing folks to opt-out of this program, we asked you to make the truest decision for you, right when you decided to join the program.
Reason #2: We’ve given you everything you needed to make an informed decision.
That’s why the Art of Money program page and this FAQ page are so thorough. We also give you samples of the learning experience from inside the program, a Golden Nuggets series to get a great overview of my approach to money work, as well as free content series like Money Mochas and Money Memoirs. It’s important to us to help you make an empowered, informed decision.
Reason #3: The transformation we’re offering can only be measured by you.
If you engage with the entirety of this program — all the coaching calls, exercises, community support, and resources — if you do the deep inner work and implement the practical steps we recommend — we’re confident you’ll experience profound shifts, in your money relationship and beyond.
Yet what these look like will be different for each participant. We offer a helpful framework — but the responsibility for what you get out of it belongs to you, and you alone. Some folks choose to do every single exercise — others may pick and choose from what we offer and still benefit tremendously.
Some members already have clarity around their numbers, but need help being more gentle and forgiving around money. Others might already overflow with financial compassion, yet need help with a nuts ‘n bolts money practice. You might need help recovering from debt — or you may have an overabundance of money that feels equally overwhelming. The shifts you experience are unique to your financial history, situation, and goals.
Reason #4: When you’re all in, you’re all in.
This experience will most likely challenge you. Holy moly, will it stir up resistance — and sometimes that looks like falling behind in the program, getting triggered by lessons or teachers, or even wanting to throw the towel in completely.
It will flow through phases of excitement and grief, clarity and difficulty. Often the biggest breakthroughs come just after the greatest resistance.
By denying you an escape route when things get tough, we hope to encourage you to work through your tough spots — whether they come in Month 1 or Month 12.
We’re inviting you to be an active co-creator in this experience, to trust the process, and commit to it.
Reason #5: Life happens … but devotion is powerful.
Lots of life happens in a year — including the year you spend within the Art of Money.
Things will come up, over these 12 months. Inside the program and outside of it. You might face births, deaths, job shifts, moves, sticky family situations, health issues, life-changing parties, ups and downs and twists and turns.
But this happens every year. And no matter what’s happening, money is still there. Money still needs to be faced.
You may find yourself in such a time crunch this year, you need to take a few weeks or even a few months away from the program. This happens. But you’ll still have access to the program when you’re ready to return to it.
Or, you might find yourself in the thick of a tough time and be comforted and reassured and uplifted by the community and resources and guidance you have access to within The Art of Money. This happens a lot, too! Especially because so many of our big life challenges contain big money challenges.
It’s up to you — and only you — to commit to this deep work, not only when it’s convenient, but especially when things get tough. Because devotion is beautiful. And it’s all and only yours to claim. But speaking of all that …
Reason #6: You get access to the program for the life of the program, which will be many, many years into the future from now.
Every recording and resource we offer is yours, for the life of the program. So even if you hit resistance in the moment, or if “life happens” during this year, you may reconnect with these teachings in a few months and suddenly glean all their value.
